About the position
Brock & Stout Attorneys at Law is seeking a Social Security Disability Attorney to join our growing Social Security Disability practice.
This position offers the opportunity to represent individuals seeking Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits throughout the disability claims and appeals process.
Candidates may be licensed to practice law in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, or Florida and may work from any of Brock & Stout's 13 office locations.
Prior Social Security Disability experience is preferred, particularly experience representing claimants before the Social Security Administration and at disability hearings. However, we are also interested in attorneys with strong advocacy, client-service, and legal skills who are interested in developing a practice in Social Security Disability law.
Our Social Security Disability attorneys are supported by an experienced team of paralegals, case managers, legal assistants, and other professionals who assist with case development, medical records, client communication, and administrative matters.
The ideal candidate is an attorney who enjoys advocating for individuals, is comfortable handling hearings and a substantial caseload, communicates well with clients, and wants to be part of an established and growing disability practice.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Location Flexibility
This position may be based at any of Brock & Stout's 13 office locations.
Candidates licensed in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, or Florida will be considered. Because Social Security Disability is a federal administrative practice, our attorneys may represent disability claimants before the Social Security Administration regardless of the state in which the claimant resides.

Compensation
Pay is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and prior Social Security Disability experience.

Responsibilities
- Represent clients seeking Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits
- Handle disability claims at various stages of the Social Security administrative process
- Prepare clients for hearings before Social Security Administrative Law Judges
- Represent clients at disability hearings and other proceedings before the Social Security Administration
- Review medical records, work histories, earnings information, prior determinations, and other evidence relevant to disability claims
- Analyze medical and vocational evidence and develop appropriate case strategies
- Identify additional evidence needed to properly develop a client's disability claim
- Prepare legal arguments, hearing memoranda, briefs, correspondence, and other case-related documents
- Question clients and, when appropriate, medical or vocational experts during administrative hearings
- Review unfavorable decisions and evaluate appropriate appellate options
- Communicate with clients regarding the status of their claims, upcoming hearings, evidence requirements, and next steps
- Explain the Social Security Disability process to clients in clear and understandable terms
- Work closely with paralegals, case managers, legal assistants, and other attorneys to efficiently develop and manage cases
- Maintain accurate and timely information within the firm's case-management systems
- Manage assigned cases, hearings, deadlines, and other responsibilities in an organized and timely manner
- Remain current on Social Security regulations, rulings, administrative procedures, and developments affecting disability claims
- Provide professional, responsive, and compassionate representation to individuals dealing with significant medical and financial challenges
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the state bar of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, or Florida
- Strong written and verbal advocacy skills
- Ability to effectively prepare for and conduct administrative hearings
- Strong analytical and legal research skills
- Ability to review and understand medical records and other complex case documentation
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases, hearings, deadlines, and priorities
- Ability to communicate complex legal and procedural issues in a way clients can easily understand
- Professional, compassionate, and client-focused approach
- Ability to work effectively with attorneys, paralegals, case managers, legal assistants, and other members of a team
- Sound professional judgment and a commitment to providing high-quality legal representation
