About the position
Brock & Stout Attorneys at Law is seeking a Social Security Disability Case Manager to join our Social Security Disability team in our Dothan, Alabama office.
The Social Security Disability Case Manager will be responsible for managing an assigned caseload and serving as a primary point of contact for clients as their claims move through the Social Security Disability process.
This position requires strong organization, consistent follow-up, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a large amount of detailed case information. Case Managers work closely with attorneys, legal assistants, medical providers, the Social Security Administration, and other members of the firm to help develop claims and ensure important deadlines and case requirements are addressed.
Prior Social Security Disability experience is a significant plus but is not required. Candidates with experience in legal case management, healthcare, insurance, disability claims, medical offices, or other positions involving detailed records and frequent client communication are also encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate is dependable, highly organized, comfortable managing multiple cases at different stages, and able to communicate patiently and professionally with clients who may be experiencing serious medical and financial difficulties.
Candidates with experience managing healthcare, insurance, disability, legal, or other document-intensive cases may also be a strong fit for this position.

Compensation
Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Prior Social Security Disability, legal case-management, healthcare, insurance, or related experience will be taken into consideration.

Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned caseload of Social Security Disability clients
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the disability claims and appeals process
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status, outstanding information, deadlines, and next steps
- Monitor the progress of claims at various stages of the Social Security administrative process
- Obtain and maintain accurate information regarding medical treatment, physicians, medications, work history, education, and other relevant case details
- Request, track, organize, and review medical records and other supporting documentation
- Identify missing records, information, or documentation and follow up as necessary
- Assist clients with Social Security forms, questionnaires, and other required documentation
- Monitor deadlines, hearing dates, appeals, and other important case events
- Communicate with Social Security Administration offices regarding case status and administrative matters
- Maintain accurate and detailed case notes within the firm's case-management system
- Ensure client files remain organized, complete, and current
- Help prepare cases for attorney review and administrative hearings
- Work with attorneys to identify information or evidence needed to further develop claims
- Assist in gathering medical, vocational, and other evidence relevant to a client's disability claim
- Review correspondence and notices from the Social Security Administration and take appropriate follow-up action
- Follow up with clients regarding outstanding paperwork, medical treatment, or other case requirements
- Coordinate with legal assistants and other team members to keep cases progressing efficiently
- Escalate legal issues, complex case questions, or significant developments to the appropriate attorney
- Provide professional, responsive, and compassionate service to clients
- Perform other case-management and administrative duties as needed
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior legal, case-management, medical-office, insurance, disability-claims, or professional administrative experience is preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to independently manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn case-management and other software systems
- Ability to review, organize, and maintain large amounts of detailed information
- Comfortable communicating frequently with clients by telephone, email, and in person
- Ability to follow established processes while recognizing when an issue should be escalated to an attorney
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive medical and personal information
- Professional, patient, and compassionate approach when working with clients
- Dependable and consistent follow-through
