Brock & Stout Attorneys at Law is seeking a Workers' Compensation Attorney to join our growing team. This position may be based at any of our 13 office locations. Prior experience representing injured workers is preferred, but attorneys with strong litigation, negotiation, and client-advocacy experience are also encouraged to apply.
About the position
Brock & Stout Attorneys at Law is seeking a Workers' Compensation Attorney to represent individuals who have been injured in the course of their employment.
This position may be based at any of Brock & Stout's 13 office locations, providing flexibility for qualified candidates throughout the firm's existing markets.
The attorney will work directly with injured workers throughout the workers' compensation claims process, including evaluating claims, developing evidence, negotiating with employers and insurance carriers, and representing clients in hearings, mediations, and other proceedings when necessary.
Prior experience representing workers' compensation claimants is preferred. However, we are also interested in attorneys with strong litigation, negotiation, and client-service skills who are interested in developing or expanding their practice in workers' compensation law.
Our attorneys are supported by an experienced team of paralegals, legal assistants, case managers, and other professionals who assist with case development, medical records, client communication, scheduling, and administrative matters.
The ideal candidate is a strong advocate who communicates well with clients, can effectively manage a caseload, and wants to build a long-term career with an established and growing law firm.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Location Flexibility
This position may be based at any of Brock & Stout's 13 office locations.

Compensation
Pay is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and prior Workers' Compensation experience.

Responsibilities
- Represent individuals in workers' compensation claims arising from workplace injuries and occupational conditions
- Meet with prospective clients to evaluate potential workers' compensation claims
- Advise clients regarding their rights, responsibilities, and available benefits under applicable workers' compensation law
- Manage claims from initial intake through resolution
- Review accident reports, employment records, medical records, wage information, and other evidence relevant to a claim
- Work with clients and medical providers regarding treatment, work restrictions, and documentation
- Identify and develop medical, employment, and other evidence necessary to support claims
- Communicate and negotiate with employers, insurance carriers, claims adjusters, and opposing counsel
- Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, settlement documents, and other legal materials
- Take and defend depositions when appropriate
- Represent clients at mediations, hearings, trials, and other proceedings
- Evaluate settlement opportunities and advise clients regarding proposed resolutions
- Identify potential issues involving compensability, benefits, medical treatment, disability, return-to-work matters, and related claims
- Work closely with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys throughout the life of each case
- Maintain accurate and timely case information within the firm's case-management systems
- Manage assigned cases, deadlines, court appearances, and client communications in an organized and timely manner
- Remain current on applicable workers' compensation statutes, regulations, case law, and procedural requirements
- Provide professional, responsive, and compassionate representation to clients dealing with workplace injuries and financial uncertainty
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the state bar applicable to the attorney's assigned practice and office
- Strong written and verbal advocacy skills
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to effectively manage litigation, administrative proceedings, or contested claims
- Strong analytical and legal research skills
- Ability to review and understand medical records and other complex case documentation
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, hearings, and priorities
- Ability to clearly explain legal issues and case developments to clients
- Professional, compassionate, and client-focused approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative legal team
- Sound professional judgment and a commitment to providing high-quality legal representation
