Serving Dothan for decades · Nationwide disability representation · 12,000+ disability claims approved
Brock & Stout has served clients in Dothan since the early years of our firm. What began as a local law practice has grown into a firm with offices across Alabama and Georgia and a Social Security Disability practice that represents clients nationwide.
Dothan remains an important part of who we are. When you contact our Dothan office about a disability claim, you are working with a real local team backed by the resources and experience of the larger Brock & Stout firm.
If illness or injury has made it difficult or impossible to continue working, we can help you understand whether SSDI, SSI or another Social Security Disability benefit may apply and what SSA will look for when evaluating the claim. You can also review how SSA decides if you qualify and how a disability claim moves forward.
Hiring a Dothan disability attorney should mean more than filling out forms. You should have a local office you can reach and a team that works with Social Security Disability claims every day.

Social Security Disability is not an occasional case type for Brock & Stout. Our firm has represented thousands of disability claimants through applications, appeals and hearings. 12,000+ disability claims approved is a historical firmwide figure, not a Dothan-only count and not a promise about any future claim.
You can contact us before you apply, after a denial, while an appeal is pending or when you are preparing for a hearing. We start with where your claim is today.
Social Security Disability is a federal program. Our disability practice represents claimants nationwide, giving our Dothan clients access to a team that works with SSA's disability process every day.

Tell us where the claim stands. We'll explain what comes next and whether representation may help at this stage.
We can review your situation, explain the differences between SSDI and SSI, and help you understand the information SSA will need.

Social Security Disability Insurance, or SSDI, is tied to your work history. To qualify, you generally need enough Social Security work credits based on your age and when your disability began, along with a medical condition that meets SSA’s disability rules.
The work-credit requirement is not the same for everyone. Younger workers may qualify with fewer credits, while other workers generally need both enough total credits and enough recent work.
If you are unsure whether your work history qualifies, don’t assume the answer is no. Our Dothan disability team can help you understand the issue and how it fits into the overall claim.
Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, is a needs-based program with income, resource and other nonmedical requirements. Unlike SSDI, you do not need your own history of Social Security work credits to qualify.
SSI can potentially apply to people with limited income and resources who are disabled, blind or age 65 or older and meet the program’s other requirements. For an adult applying based on disability, SSA generally uses the same medical disability standard used for SSDI.
If you are unsure whether SSDI, SSI or both programs may apply, we can help you understand the difference.
A disability attorney does more than submit paperwork. Our job is to help Social Security see an accurate, well-supported picture of your medical conditions, work history and functional limitations.
Depending on the stage of the claim, our team may:
You should not have to learn Social Security's rules while also trying to manage a serious medical condition. Let our team handle the disability process with you.
Social Security Disability is a federal program, so these attorneys can represent claimants at hearings nationwide. Each profile is maintained in our attorney directory.
